The wind park in the small Lorraine village of Momerstroff (about 200 population) was christened in proper style with champagne. Rose de Vents, Blizzard, Alizé, Aquilon and Eole are the names of the five Nordex N90 converters, wind-promising names chosen by the villagers for their first wind park. The weather was appropriate to the occasion as a strong wind drove the machines at full capacity.

The event was celebrated with a big party, which included the villagers, their mayor Jean-Marie Crauser, municipal politicians from the region, builders and operators of the wind park and many investors who had taken up the invitation by the Zurich company, InvestInvent AG.

To the sounds of the Momerstroff brass band playing “Harmonie von Überherrn”, Dr. Alexander Jäger-Bloh, managing director of the UDE group of companies based in Neustadt, which planned, built and operates the wind park, smashed a bottle of champagne against the tubular tower of “Rose de Vents”. The event was filmed by the French TV channel Metz3, which broadcast it in its evening programming.

“The construction of this wind park is a major economic and ecological factor for Momerstroff, whose realisation we backed emphatically. Our thanks are due to all who made it happen,” said mayor Crauser in his speech.
In his welcoming address, Dr. Jäger-Bloh emphasised that the smooth realisation of the project was also due to the competent cooperation and outstanding quality of the participating companies, whom he thanked.
For the invited investors the ascent and inspection of the wind turbines was one of the highlights of the day.

The wind farm stands on a range near Momerstroff, which is in the Boulay District of the département Moselle in the region of Lorraine. The five Nordex N90 2.3-MW converters with a hub height of 100 metres, a total height of 145 m and a joint nominal capacity of 11.5 megawatts, produce at least 27,000 megawatt-hours of electricity a year, enough to power about 6,600 family homes.

The Momerstroff-based Société d`Exploitation Eolienne de Momerstroff SAS (SEEM) operates the installation. The Neustadt-based operating arm of UDE, deanBV GmbH, provides technical management from Germany and on location.

The wind park is part of a wind energy fund launched by InvestInvent and the Liechtenstein-based Privatbank Frick & Co, the “InvestInvent Wind Energy Funds SICAV plc”.
